And so did Michael on June 20th 1995, when he released his ninth solo album HIStory; Past, Present and Future, book 1.Today, we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the HIStory album. I remember that I was looking forward to this album. In my opinion I had to wait way too long for a new album to come. And then it was there, a two-disc album with a total of 30 songs.
The first disc “HIStory Begins” is a collection of 15 of Michael’s greatest hits. I was surprised when my cd player showed 16 tracks while the cover said there were only 15. First I thought something was wrong, so I jumped right to track 16. Suddenly Michael was speaking to me!
I was flabbergasted, it made me want to Scream. Later I found out that Michael recorded messages, as a surprise for fans in Canada, Germany, the Netherlands and France. He spoke directly to his fans to thank them for their support over the years and promised to tour their countries soon.
The second disc “HIStory Continues” contains 15 brand new songs, 12 of which were composed and written by Michael himself. Many of these songs were written in response to the difficulties he suffered in the period prior to the recording and release of this album. That’s what makes this album Michael’s most personal album. Listening to these songs makes me feel Michael’s pain. I just wanted to be there for him, supporting him in any way I can. And I still do. All I could think of was “life is still worthwhile, Michael, if you just smile”. Michael knew his fans were there for him. As he said in the booklet, he thanks his fans throughout the world for their unquestionable support.
This album is dedicated to all the children of the world as Michael so beautifully said:Let Us Dream of Tomorrow, where our Children are Nurtured, and Protected and Nourished. Let us Dream of Peace and Harmony and Laughter. Let us Dream of Joy and Ecstasy. Let us Dream of Dancing the Cosmic Dance. Let us Renew Again, Those Dreams of Promise we Once Made Before. Where We can Hold our Heads High And Stretch Our Arms Toward Perfection. Let us Dream of a Tomorrow, Where we can truly Love from the Soul, and know Love as the Ultimate Truth At the Heart of All Creation.Prior to the album release a spectacular teaser was aired worldwide. The promotion of this album would become one of the most expensive music product promotions ever.
As part of the promotion plan for his album Michael came up with the idea of creating a statue. Of course, as we all know Michael, it had to be large! It was so large that a boat was needed to transport it to London. The statue was designed by Diana Walczak. In the end 9 statues were built, which were placed all over Europe.
In the year following the album’s release, the HIStory World Tour began. It started on September 7, 1996. Michael performed 82 concerts in 58 cities covering 35 countries on five continents. The tour ended on October 15, 1997.
Little SusieListening to the album, the songs Little Susie, Smile and Stranger In Moscow struck me the most. These songes evoked all kinds of emotions in me. Grief, hurt, being misunderstood, happiness. It is nearly impossible to describe it all. Michael visualises the indescribable. The picture used for Little Susie, the video for Stranger in Moscow. From that point on I started to buy his records which turned into a great collection of great MJ stuff. Michael has always been like a friend to me, supporting me through difficult periods of my life. Just listening to his music makes me happy. Michael is gone, but his legacy is forever."

E così ha fatto Michael il 20 giugno 1995, quando ha pubblicato il suo nono album da solista “HIStory; Past, Present and Future, book 1”
Oggi, si celebra il 20° anniversario dell'album HIStory. Ricordo che ero impaziente per questo album. A mio parere, ho dovuto aspettare troppo a lungo per un nuovo album. E poi era lì, un doppio album con un totale di 30 canzoni. Il primo disco "HIStory Begins" è una raccolta di 15 dei più grandi successi di Michael. Sono rimasta sorpresa quando il mio lettore cd ha mostrato 16 tracce mentre sulla copertina c'era scritto solo 15. In primo luogo ho pensato che qualcosa non andava, così sono andata dritta alla traccia n.16. Improvvisamente Michael mi stava parlando! Ero sbalordita, mi ha fatto venire voglia di urlare. Più tardi ho scoperto che Michael ha registrato i messaggi, come sorpresa per i fan in Canada, Germania, Paesi Bassi e Francia. Ha parlato direttamente con i suoi fan per ringraziarli per il loro supporto nel corso degli anni e prometteva di visitare i loro paesi al più presto.
Il secondo disco “HIStory Continues” contiene 15 canzoni nuove di zecca, 12 delle quali sono stati composte e scritte da Michael stesso. Molte di queste canzoni sono state scritte in risposta alle difficoltà che ha subito nel periodo precedente alla registrazione e il rilascio di questo album. Questo è ciò che lo rende l'album più personale di Michael. L'ascolto di queste canzoni mi fa sentire il dolore di Michael. Volevo solo essere lì per lui, sostenendolo in ogni modo possibile. E lo faccio ancora. Tutto quello che potevo pensare era "la vita è ancora utile, Michael, se solo sorridi". Michael sapeva che i suoi fan erano lì per lui. Come ha detto nel libretto, ringrazia i suoi fan in tutto il mondo per il loro indiscutibile sostegno.
Questo album è dedicato a tutti i bambini del mondo come Michael in modo così bello, ha dichiarato:Sogniamo un Domani dove i Nostri Bambini sono Curati, Protetti e Nutriti. Sogniamo la Pace, l'Armonia e le Risate. Laciateci Sognare l'Allegria e l'Estasi. Lasciateci Sognare di Ballare la Danza Cosmica. Rinnoviamo Ancora una Volta, Quei Sogni di Promesse che Una Volta Abbiamo Fatto. Dove Possiamo Tenere Alta la Testa e Allungare le Braccia Verso la Perfezione. Fateci Sognare un Domani, dove Possiamo Amare Veramente dall'Anima e Conoscere l'Amore come la Suprema Verità presso il Cuore di tutta la Creazione.Prima del rilascio dell'album un teaser spettacolare è stato trasmesso in tutto il mondo. La promozione di questo album sarebbe diventata una delle più costose della storia musicale..

Come parte del piano di promozione per il suo album, Michael ebbe l'idea di creare una statua. Naturalmente, “conoscendo” Michael, doveva essere grande! Era così grande che è stata utilizata una grossa barca per trasportarla a Londra. La statua l'ha progettata Diana Walczak. Alla fine sono state costruite 9 statue e sistemate in tutta Europa.
L'anno successivo l'uscita dell'album, il HIStory World Tour ha avuto inizio. E 'iniziato il 7 settembre 1996. Michael ha eseguito 82 concerti in 58 città di 35 paesi nei cinque continenti. Il tour si è concluso il 15 ottobre 1997.
Ascoltando l'album, le canzoni 'Piccola Susie', 'Smile' e 'Stranger In Moscow' mi hanno colpito di più. Questi brani hanno evocato tutti i tipi di emozioni dentro di me. La sofferenza, il dolore, l'essere frainteso, la felicità.
E'quasi impossibile descrivere tutto. Michael visualizza l'indescrivibile. L'immagine usata per Little Susie, il video di Stranger in Moscow. Posso solo dire che questo album è un capolavoro.HIStory, facciamo tesoro di questa eredità .........
Circa 35 anni fa Michael ha attirato la mia attenzione in tv. Vedendo il video di "Rock With You" mi sono incuriosita. Da quel momento ho cominciato a comprare i suoi dischi, che si è trasformata in una grande collezione su MJ. Michael è sempre stato come un amico per me, sostenendomi nei periodi difficili della mia vita. Solo ascoltare la sua musica mi rende felice. Michael se n'è andato, ma la sua eredità è per sempre.

Non mi ricordavo che negli album destinati a 4 paesi soli ci fosse una traccia in più e parlata..
Anzi anzi forse non l'ho mai saputo.. un ingiustizia
Ma vero.. trepidazione per l'attesa..ma è sempre stato così per ogni album..tranne Invincible..
Grazie ai comportamenti idioz di Sony..arrivò sul mercato quasi in sordina.
