“Runaway” Was Offered To Janet & Michael Jackson As A Duet But They Choose “Scream” Instead
It’s difficult to imagine Janet Jackson‘s breezy 1995 hit “Runaway” as a duet with brother Michael Jackson but it almost happened according to legendary producer Jimmy Jam. The evergreen hitmaker was questioned about his use of samples in the song last night (September 23) on Twitter, which prompted him to reveal that the travel-inspiring anthem was almost a duet.
“No samples in ‘Runaway’ but the track was created for @JanetJackson & @michaeljackson duet,” Jimmy tweeted. “He chose the ‘Scream’ track.” Given everything Michael was going through at the time, it’s not exactly surprising that he went with the darker, angrier option. But perhaps they could have done both. Just imagine MJ dancing with Janet on the Eiffel Tower and Opera House! See the Twitter exchange after the jump.

E 'difficile immaginare la fresca hit del 1995 di Janet Jackson "Runaway", in duetto con il fratello Michael Jackson, ma è quasi accaduto secondo il leggendario produttore Jimmy Jam. Il sempreverde hitmaker è stato interrogato circa il suo uso di campioni nella canzone ieri sera (23 settembre) su Twitter, cosa che lo ha portato a rivelare che l'inno ispirato al viaggiare era quasi un duetto.
"Non ci sono campioni in 'Runaway', ma la traccia è stata creata per un duetto tra @JanetJackson & @michaeljackson" ha twittato Jimmy. "Lui ha scelto il brano 'Scream'". Dato tutto quello che Michael stava attraversando in quel momento, non è esattamente sorprendente che abbia scelto l'opzione più cupa e più arrabbiata. Ma forse avrebbero potuto farle entrambe. Provate a immaginare MJ ballare con Janet sulla Torre Eiffel e l'Opera House!
