Alfonso Ribeiro partecipa alla Premiere di ‘After Earth’ al teatro Ziegfeld di New York il 29 Maggio 2013. Alfonso Ribeiro dice che ha sempre pensato al suo compianto amico Michael Jackson come a " un bambino imprigionato nel corpo di un uomo", ed è uno dei motivi per cui non potrà mai credere alle accuse di molestie contro l'intrattenitore.

Francamente, non mi importa delle tante dicerie o cose, o di quello che dice la gente, io non potrò mai credere che Michael abbia fatto una delle qualsiasi cose che riportano su di lui, ha detto ad " Access Hollywood’s Kit Hoover".

Non voglio crederci perchè da bambino, e da bambino di 12, 13 o 14 anni, ho conosciuto Michael e sono uscito con lui, non è mai successo, e non mi è mai sembrato possibile che sarebbe potuto accadere. Non c'era mai nulla di discutibile, io semplicemente non ci credo.

Ribeiro, che era già apparso in uno spot Pepsi al fianco della pop star (ha eseguito una versione mini-Jackson, con tanto di giacca rossa "Beat It"), ha solo ricordi innocenti dell'intrattenitore.

A fine giornata Michael era un bambino, e ai bambini piace uscire con gli altri ragazzi non con gli adulti, quindi, penso che sia stato solo quello il suo scopo,sai, lui era rimasto a quel genere di età, ha aggiunto Ribeiro.

Ribeiro aveva solo 12 anni quando fu scelto per lo spot Pepsi al fianco di Jackson.

Mentre parla con Kit, Ribeiro ha detto che lavorare con Jackson è stata "la cosa migliore che potesse mai succedere nella mia vita in quel momento", penso che sia stata la cosa più bella in assoluto.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Caption Alfonso Ribeiro attends the ‘After Earth’ premiere at Ziegfeld Theater on May 29, 2013 in New York CityAlfonso Ribeiro says he’s always thought of his late friend Michael Jackson as a “child caught in a man’s body,” and it is one of the reasons he will never believe the molestation allegations against the entertainer.

“Quite frankly, no matter how many reports or things, or what people say, I will never believe that Michael was any of the things that they want to report about him,” he told Access Hollywood’s Kit Hoover. “I won’t believe it because being a kid and being 12, 13, and 14, knowing Michael Jackson and hanging out with Michael, it never occurred, it never seemed like it could have occurred. There was nothing ever questionable, I simply won’t believe it.”

Ribeiro, who previously appeared in a Pepsi commercial opposite the pop star (he played a mini version of Jackson, complete with a “Beat It”-esque red jacket) has only innocent memories of the entertainer.

“At the end of the day Michael was a kid, and kids like hanging out with other kids, not adults, so I just think that he reached a point, you know, at that age where he just kind of stayed there,” Ribeiro added.

Ribeiro was just 12 years old when he was cast in the Pepsi commercial opposite Jackson.

While speaking to Kit, Ribeiro said that working with Jackson was “the greatest thing that could have ever happened in my life at that time, I thought it was the coolest thing ever.”

“I looked at Michael and I still look at Michael this way, and I will always look at Michael this way: Michael was a man, he was a child caught in a man’s body,” Ribeiro said. “He is absolutely a child, and I viewed him that way.”
