Hers was a statement against blogs that have become part of “the clique” and a kind of lambast against those bloggers who have apparently attempted to become “authorities” on Michael Jackson.

You know, when it comes to Michael Jackson, since most fans didn’t know him personally or intimately, the most we can give are our opinions and impressions of him. Far too many times I read articles about him written by fans and the like, done with such authority and insight but honestly it’s really nothing more than fan fiction and speculation, just like what the media did but with positive spin.
One wonders why some blog are more popular than others and I will tell you why, it is the “MJ Community” cliques. Once you get in there, almost anything is possible. You can say, insinuate or even create a totally argument free article on Michael Jackson, his life, his friends, his music… You can almost recreate a new being called “Michael Jackson” written from your point of view of course, as if it were his.
Look, we may never hear another word from him again, but let’s not assume that all positive pieces of writings on him are accurate. Remember the author’s creative license, we don’t really know what he was thinking, but what we do know is how he made us feel. I think focusing on those truths, our truths is the best way to approach articles on Michael Jackson, not just because it’s a popular blog or a well-known writer. If we don’t do that, then we become nothing more than our own kind of tabloids filled with sensationalism and make-believe.
He would want it burned.
The post did not mention any names directly. However, anyone who has been part of the MJ blogosphere for any length of time certainly knows that “cliquedom” has become an unfortunate fact of life. Inevitably, MJ blogs and their authors have become lumped into various cliques, based on the author’s particular ideologies and those of their followers, and the approach they take to their subject-namely, Michael Jackson. I need not enumerate them. We know who they are. There are vindication blogs, anti-Sony blogs, anti-estate blogs, pro-estate blogs, conspiracy theory blogs, and just about everything that falls in between. There are blogs solely dedicated to Michael as an artist; blogs that celebrate his humanitarian work, and blogs that attempt to separate myth and fiction from reality. The nature of that “reality”, of course, is what was being called into question-and rightfully so. But let me back up for just a second.
I have always thought that the MJ blogosphere is a wonderful, diverse community where many of us are sharing our knowledge and research, and in so doing, building an archive of information that has seriously dented the narrative of the tabloids and mainstream media. Sure, we don’t all agree on everything. But that is the beauty of it. Readers are free to accept or reject what is put out. MJ fans, especially, are well informed and well aware that they are free to accept or reject any opinions or theories that are put out. They are free to absorb it all, to compare views, and to draw their own conclusions. However, with that being said, I have certainly seen my share of intolerant communities, where bloggers belittle, bully, and sometimes even block anyone who disagrees with them. A few have even gone on actively aggressive campaigns against other bloggers, publicly questioning the intents and motives of fellow bloggers-energy that certainly could be put to far better use by focusing on the subject at hand-Michael Jackson. Sadly, however, it seems that the MJ blogosphere, like so many things these days, is not immune to petty jealousy and the desire to drive off the “competition.” And I sometimes feel that this is the very motive behind a lot of the petty snipping and heel biting that I see.
But this does raise an interesting question. Are we, in fact (as this blogger suggests) guilty of merely supplanting the tabloid spins with a spin of another kind? Are we merely supplanting the mainstream MJ narrative-which has been mostly concocted by journalists with agendas-with an equally questionable narrative that is being spun by well intended fans and armchair researchers who also have agendas? Perhaps more to the point, is that a bad thing? Perhaps the answer is both yes and no.
The crux of her argument is that most of us did not know Michael; therefore, none of us can be qualified as the final authority on him. Well, that’s true. My favorite joke-especially when I hear someone being touted as a “Michael Jackson expert”-is that there is only one person who could have ever been a true “Michael Jackson expert,” and he has been gone for over five years! (Some would even argue if Michael really “knew” Michael!). But by that same argument, we would also have to reject the full body of scholarship on every single historical figure who has ever lived! In the academic world, it is quite common to refer to colleagues as a “John Keats scholar” or a “Geoffrey Chaucer scholar.” But all the title really means is a nod to the amount of time and energy the scholar has poured into researching their subject. They have earned a certain entitlement due to their hard work and dedication, at least enough that students know to listen carefully and take good notes when they speak-if they want to pass the course. And, of course, it may get them invited to all the right parties, where they will be sure to sit and banter with other “authorities” on many past lives. But no one is ever truly an “authority” on anyone, no matter how many ph.d’s we have or how much research we pour into that person’s life. We might, over time and with enough dedication, eventually get all of the facts of a life down. But always, the many facets of what truly comprises a human being-their heart, their soul, their dreams, their motivations and aspirations- will always be that elusive shadow we chase. What we think we know about famous celebrities or historical figures is constantly being deconstructed and then revisioned by subsequent generations. So, too, will it be with Michael. Certainly our thirst to understand these individuals who have shaped and impacted our world doesn’t end just because they die-if anything, death intensifies the need to understand what their lives meant. If everyone ceased researching and writing about historical figures just because they have died and because we did not know them, then pretty soon there would be no biographies left; no documentaries, no library of research or knowledge at all. We can say we didn’t know them, so why bother?
On the other hand, when the subject is Michael Jackson, how much credence or authority is really granted to anyone who knew him? I never met Michael, but I have met and in some cases have maintained close contact with many who did know him-some quite intimately. To this day, I have only shared a small fraction of some of the wonderful stories and memories that have been shared with me because I considered those things to be private information. Having access to this knowledge, however, still doesn’t make me someone who “knew” Michael Jackson nor does it qualify me in any way to wear the label of “expert” or “final authority.” It is simply what it is-knowledge that has come about second hand, via two degrees of separation, and for which many variables must be accounted, including the nature of that individual’s relationship, the time period in which they knew him (for as with most of us, Michael changed and evolved over time) and their own motivations and experiences, which of course will invariably color their memories of Michael.
But as for actually knowing Michael and allowing that to serve as some kind of right to authority, we have certainly all seen for ourselves just how much weight that carries in the fan community-and even in the media. Karen Faye, Frank Cascio, Bill Whitfield, David Gest, and many others I could name are all certainly people who knew Michael Jackson as well as anyone could know him, yet their comments and motivations have constantly been held up for scrutiny, and even dismissed outright when they did not suit the preferred narrative of fans. Likewise, individuals who knew Michael and who have tried to speak out positively in the press are almost always invariably dismissed as biased sources (if only the same standard would be applied to those who speak negatively!). Lisa Marie Presley can go on Oprah and say she had a real marriage with Michael, and there will still be people calling her a liar. Michael’s own family, including his parents and siblings, would for sure have to count as people who knew him. Heck, he came from his own mother’s body! Yet I don’t even have to touch on how much “authority” or credibility they are granted by many, especially fans, when they talk about Michael! I have seen how quickly any quote from anyone who knew Michael can be shot down by fans and foes alike who don’t wish to accept any “truth” about Michael that deviates from their own-good or bad. And while it’s good to keep a critical mind, it is sometimes just as important to keep an open one.
If you read the information I posted on my “About” page, which I haven’t altered much since November of 2009, I made it very clear that I do not consider myself a Michael Jackson expert. I considered myself a researcher and newly turned on fan whose mind was being blown by all that I was learning about Michael. I was on fire with all that I was discovering and wanted to share it with the world. I figured if I encouraged at least one person to take a closer look at the life and work of Michael Jackson, I had fulfilled my mission. I am human, of course, and not immune to the allure that is the attraction of the name Michael Jackson. Over the past five years, I have seen so many attach themselves to this name, all in the name of research, scholarship, and “authority”-and, sometimes, ultimately, glory. In time, many individuals come to develop their own following-in Michael’s name, of course, but it is still a kind of ego-driven glorification, a kind of fame that inevitably is riding the coattails of Michael Jackson. I am sure most do not start out that way, or with that intention. It evolves over time and perhaps to some degree, is both subconscious and unavoidable. If you do good work, you are eventually recognized. Then people who love Michael come to love what you do. And that, of course, is a very satisfying and rewarding feeling-as long as we can keep the egos in check.
It is true that none of us can stand as the final authority. In the end, I think this blogger made a very valid point. We can only be the authority of ourselves and what Michael’s life, art, and struggles mean for us. But by the same token, I think it would be a terribly impoverished state of affairs if we all suddenly threw in our towels and ceased asking the hard questions about Michael’s life-what it meant, who he was, and what happened to him. After all, it has largely been through the hard work and dedication of bloggers that, finally, many of the long held misconceptions about Michael are being deconstructed. Social media and the internet have eaten away at the almighty power that the tabloids and mainstream media once had. The dedicated research of MJ bloggers has provided an invaluable wealth of knowledge. I don’t think that can be a bad thing-and I am frankly not sure how I feel when someone lumps us in the same category as the tabloids that ought to be “burned,” even if albeit by “we” I am assuming she is including herself as well. Her argument, in essence, seems to be that we are just another side of the tabloid coin. Well, as someone who has been, by turns, both frustrated and enlightened, betrayed and supported, by the MJ blogosphere community-and at times outraged by some of the holier-than-thou attitudes that prevail- I can certainly see both sides of the argument. However, it may be a slippery slope when we start asking the question of who really has the authority to write on Michael Jackson.
Michael’s story-and his legacy-may be best left to the music and words he wrote. However, that isn’t going to stop a whole host of others from jumping on that ship, from fans and scholars, to music critics and cultural analyists, to haters and tabloid journalists, to biographers and even psychoanalysts. I have heard it often said that the bloggers, in fact, may be the last and only real bastion of truth that is out there for the MJ researcher. With such a myriad of opinions, it may be impossible to ever pin down one definitive version of that “truth,” however. When all is said and done, most fans will pick and choose and assemble the narrative that suits them best. Perhaps Michael might even say, if that’s the version of me that makes them happy, so be it. As has so often been said, what matters most-what should and HAS to be our top priority-is clearing his name from the allegations. His legacy will more than survive all else. So we might agree to disagree on whether he was always a strict vegetarian, whether he preferred white wine to red, or exactly how many surgeries he actually did have-in the end, this is all small fry stuff and none of it will ultimately matter.
So who has the authority to write on Michael Jackson? The answer may well be all of us, and none of us. If you have a passion for him; if his music or his life touched you, affected you in any way, you have the authority to write about him. If you have read and researched enough to feel you have a say about him, then you have the authority to write about him. If you feel there are still questions about his death that need to be answered, or even questions about his life that still need to be answered, then you have the authority to write about him. Does that make your word the final authority, however? Certainly not. You have to consider that yours is just one of thousands of voices-perhaps even millions-who are contributing to the fabric of that “truth,” perhaps a “truth” that will never be definitive but which, over time, will certainly be much more accurate and multi-faceted than had we all remained silent, simply allowing the tabloids and the media to tell that story. In time, Michael’s story will be one that has been sculpted and shaped by many hands, from the fans of remote African villages to Harvard Ph.D’s.
We bloggers do have a responsibility. With every word about Michael Jackson that we cast into cyberspace, we are formulating and shaping someone’s perception of him, whether for better or worse. That is not a responsibility to be taken lightly, nor one that is meant merely to stoke our own egos or whatever sense of “power” it gives. We have to remember that when it comes to that vast cosmic ocean of voices raised in search of truth about this man,each of us, individually, are just small drops in that ocean. Let’s not over inflate our worth. But by the same token, let’s not sell ourselves short, either. After all, it takes every single drop, working in concert, to create that ocean.

Questo post si è reso necessario a causa di un altro post scritto da un Blogger su MJ (blog che fra l'altro ha un nome confondibile con quello del mio blog e anche se non c'è alcuna affiliazione fra di noi). Nel post quindi precedente, c'era un aperta dichiarazione contro i blog che sono diventati parte della "cricca" e una sorta di accusa contro quei blogger che hanno apparentemente tentato di diventare delle "autorità" su Michael Jackson.

Sapete quando si tratta di Michael Jackson, considerando che la maggior parte dei fans non lo conoscevano personalmente o intimamente, il massimo che possiamo dire sono le nostre opinioni e le impressioni su di lui. Troppe volte ho letto articoli su di lui scritti da fan o similari,scritti con autorità e forte senso di conoscenza, ma onestamente , si tratta niente più che di fan fiction e speculazione, proprio come quello che hanno fatto i media, ma in senso positivo verso Michael.
Ci si domanda perché alcuni blog sono più popolari di altri e vi dirò il perché, sono parte delle cricche "MJ community". Una volta entrati lì, quasi tutto è possibile. Si può dire, insinuare o addirittura creare un articolo su un qualunque argomento su Michael Jackson, la sua vita, i suoi amici, la sua musica ... Si può quasi ricreare un nuovo essere umano, dal nome di "Michael Jackson", e descritto dal proprio punto di vista, naturalmente, come fosse assolutamente reale.
Io sono del parere che, non potremo mai sentire una parola da lui di nuovo,e questo è un fatto, ma non diamo anche per scontato che tutti i pezzi positivi scritti su di lui siano anche accurati e veritieri. Tenete presente la licenza creativa dell'autore, noi non sappiamo veramente cosa stava pensando, ma quello che sappiamo è quanto ci ha fatto sentire e sapere. Penso che concentrarsi su quelle verità, piuttosto che le nostre , sia il miglior modo per affrontare gli articoli su Michael Jackson,e non in funzione della popolarità del blog o di chi lo scrive. Se non lo facciamo, allora diventeremo niente di più che simili ai tabloid, pieni di sensazionalismo e di finzione.
E Michael voleva che bruciassero.
Il post non menziona volutamente, alcuno. Tuttavia, chiunque abbia fatto parte della blogosfera di MJ per un certo periodo di tempo certamente sa che "La cupola della Cricca" è diventata una spiacevole componente della vita. Inevitabilmente, i blog su MJ e i loro autori hanno teso ad accomunarsi in cricche, sulla base di particolari ideologie dell'autore e quelle dei loro seguaci, e in base a questo viaggia l'approccio che adottano per il loro oggetto e cioè, Michael Jackson. Non c'è bisogno di enumerarli. Noi sappiamo chi sono. Ci sono blog di rivendicazione, blog anti-Sony, blog anti-Estate, blog pro-Estate, blog sulla teoria del complotto, e quasi tutto ciò che sta nel mezzo. Ci sono i blog dedicati esclusivamente a Michael come artista; blog che celebrano il suo lavoro umanitario, e blog che tentano di separare il mito e la finzione dalla realtà. La natura di tale "realtà", naturalmente, è quello che veniva( nel post precedente) messo in discussione, e giustamente è così. Ma mi permetto di fare qualche appunto sulla questione..
Ho sempre pensato che la blogosfera di MJ è una meravigliosa, differente comunità in cui molti di noi condividono le proprie conoscenze e analisi, e così facendo, costruiamo un archivio di informazioni in grado di intaccare seriamente la narrazione dei tabloid e dei media. Certo, non tutti sono d'accordo su tutto. Ma questo è il bello. I lettori sono liberi di accettare o rifiutare ciò che viene detto e raccontato. I fan di MJ, in particolare, sono ben informati e ben consapevoli del fatto che sono liberi di accettare o rifiutare eventuali opinioni o teorie che vengono scritte. Sono liberi di assorbire tutto, di confrontare i diversi punti di vista, e di trarre le proprie conclusioni. Tuttavia, detto questo , ho certamente assistito ad una buona fetta di comunità di persone intolleranti, blogger pronti a sminuire il lavoro altrui, che si comportano da bulli, e talvolta che anche bloccano chiunque sia in disaccordo con loro. Alcuni hanno persino scelto di mettere in piedi di campagne aggressive vere e proprie contro altri blogger, mettendo in discussione pubblicamente le intenzioni e le motivazioni di altri colleghi blogger , sforzi che sicuramente potrebbero invece essere utilizzati meglio, ad esempio mettendo meglio a fuoco il soggetto in questione, cioè a dire -Michael Jackson. Purtroppo, però, sembra che la MJ blogosfera, come tante altre situazioni in questi giorni, non sia immune a piccole gelosia e a desideri di scacciare la "concorrenza". E io a volte sento che questo è il vero motivo dietro alla meschinità e all'istinto di mordersi l'un l'altro.
Ma questa riflessione solleva una domanda interessante. Siamo, davvero (come suggerisce questo blogger) colpevoli di limitarsi a soppiantare il tabloid roteando semplicemente in senso inverso? Stiamo davvero riuscendo a scalzare quel tradizionale MJ raccontato che è stato in gran parte inventato da giornalisti con un ordine del giorno, se la nostra narrazione è altrettanto discutibile se pur mossa da buone intenzioni e raccontata da ricercatori che se ne stanno comodamente seduti su una poltrona? Non è che siamo per caso al punto che stia diventando un qualcosa di negativo? Forse sì e forse no.
Il punto cruciale della sua tesi(nel post precedente) è che la maggior parte di noi non conoscevano Michael; quindi, nessuno di noi può essere qualificato come autorità su di lui. Beh, questo è vero. La mia battuta preferita, soprattutto quando sento qualcuno che si propone come "esperto di Michael Jackson", è che non c'è mai stata una sola persona che potesse vantare un tale titolo e Michael, ci ha lasciati 5 anni fa! (Qualcuno potrebbe anche obiettare che forse nemmeno Michael conosceva Michael). Ma inoltrarsi in questo sarebbe come dire che si dovrebbe rifiutare qualunque laureato, o studioso di ogni singola figura storica che abbia mai vissuto! Nel mondo accademico, è abbastanza comune riferirsi ai colleghi come "John Keats scholar" o "Geoffrey Chaucer scholar." Ma il titolo ha un significato preciso, ed è un cenno alla quantità di tempo ed energia che lo studioso ha riversato nel fare indagini relative all'soggetto in questione. Hanno guadagnato un certo diritto grazie ad un immenso lavoro e dedizione, o almeno sufficiente a far si che gli studenti ascoltino con attenzione e prendano appunti, quando loro parlano. Ma nessuno è mai una vera e propria "autorità" su chiunque, indipendentemente dal numero di dottorati che abbiamo, o quanta ricerca e dedizione riversiamo sulla vita del soggetto prescelto. Potremmo diventarlo, nel tempo e con sufficiente dedizione. Ma e sempre, le molteplici sfaccettature del modo di comprendere il cuore di un altro essere umano, la sua anima, i suoi sogni, le sue motivazioni e aspirazioni- creeranno sempre un ombra sfuggente e dubbiosa da rincorrere. Quello che pensiamo di sapere su personaggi famosi o personaggi storici viene costantemente decostruito e poi revisionato dalle generazioni successive. E così sarà anche per Michael. Certo, la nostra sete di capire queste persone che hanno plasmato e influenzato il nostro mondo non finisce solo perché muoiono, se non altro, la morte intensifica la necessità di capire cosa significassero le loro vite. Se tutti cessassero di cercare e scrivere di personaggi storici solo perché sono morti e perché non li conoscevano, non assisteremo al proliferare di biografie; nessun documentario, nessuna biblioteca dove cercare e nessuna conoscenza per nessuno. Potremmo solo dire che non li conoscevamo, quindi, perché preoccuparsi?
D'altra parte, quando il soggetto è Michael Jackson, la qualifica di Autorità e il credito è da relegare solo verso coloro che lo conoscevano? Non ho mai incontrato Michael, ma ho incontrato, e in alcuni casi, mantenuto uno stretto contatto con molti che lo hanno conosciuto abbastanza intimamente. Fino ad oggi, ho condiviso solo una piccola parte di alcune delle storie meravigliose e ricordi che sono state condivise con me, perché ho considerato molti di questi racconti, informazioni private. Avere accesso a questa conoscenza, tuttavia, ancora non fa di me una persona che "conosceva " Michael Jackson né mi qualifica in alcun modo o tale da poter indossare lo stemma di "esperto" o "autorità " E 'semplicemente quello che è- conoscenza di seconda mano, attraverso due gradi di separazione, e nella quale molte variabili devono obbligatoriamente essere considerate, compresa la natura del rapporto individuale, il periodo di tempo in cui queste persone lo hanno conosciuto (come la maggior parte di noi, Michael è cambiato e si è evoluto nel tempo) e le proprie motivazioni ed esperienze, che ovviamente possono aver colorato più o meno il ricordo su Michael.
Ma per quanto riguarda la reale conoscenza di Michael e permettendoci di considerarci delle autorità, abbiamo sicuramente potuto notare il peso che con se questo trasporta nella communità dei fans e anche nei media. Karen Faye, Frank Cascio, Bill Whitfield, David Gest, e molti altri (Potrei citarne anche di più) sono sicuramente persone che conoscevano Michael Jackson, ma i loro commenti e le motivazioni sono state costantemente messe sotto esame, e a volte anche totalmente respinte , sopratutto se non si addicevano al racconto preferito dal fan in questione. Allo stesso modo, le persone che conoscevano Michael e che hanno cercato di parlare positivamente sulla stampa sono quasi sempre state respinte come voci distorte (se solo lo stesso standard potesse essere applicato a chi ne parla negativamente!). Lisa Marie Presley può anche andare da Oprah e dire che aveva un vero e proprio matrimonio con Michael, ci sarà ancora gente che la etichetta come bugiarda. La famiglia di Michael, compresi i suoi genitori e fratelli, avrebbero di sicuro dovuto contare come persone che lo conoscevano. Diamine, è o no nato dal corpo di sua madre??! Eppure guai a nemmeno vagamente ritenerli delle "autorità" o dar loro credito.. queste licenze non sono certamente facili da ottenere, specialmente con i fan e quando si parla di Michael! Ho visto quanto velocemente qualsiasi citazione da qualcuno che conosceva Michael possa essere abbattuta dai fan e nemici che non vogliono accettare qualsiasi "verità" su di lui che possa anche solo deviarli minimamente dal loro concetto del bene e del male. E mentre è bene mantenere una mente critica, a volte è altrettanto importante mantenerne una aperta.
Se andate a leggere le informazioni che ho postato sulla mia pagina,e che non ho cambiato molto dal novembre del 2009, è piuttosto chiaro che io non mi ritengo un esperto di Michael Jackson. Mi consideravo un ricercatore e giovane raccoglitore di tutto quanto mi è arrivato dalla fan base. Ero sui carboni ardenti per l'enorme quantità di materiale raccolto e volevo condividerlo con il mondo. Ho pensato che se avessi incoraggiato anche solo una persona a dare un'occhiata più da vicino alla vita e alle opere di Michael Jackson, avrei dato un senso alla mia missione. Sono un essere umano, ovviamente, e non immune al fascino e l'attrazione che suscita il nome di Michael Jackson. Nel corso degli ultimi cinque anni, ho visto tante persone attaccarsi a questo nome, il tutto in nome della ricerca, borse di studio, e "autorità», e, a volte, in ultima analisi, la gloria. Col tempo, molte persone trovano un proprio seguito, in nome di Michael, naturalmente, ma e si tratta sempre di una sorta di esaltazione dell'ego, una sorta di fama che inevitabilmente cavalca qualsiasi cosa al di sopra di Michael Jackson stesso. Ma sono sicuro che la maggior parte non ha iniziato così, o non con tale intenzione. Si evolve nel tempo e forse in una certa misura, entra nel subconscio quasi inevitabilmente. Se fai un buon lavoro,vieni finalmente riconosciuto. In un secondo momento le persone che amano Michael imparano ad apprezzare quello che fate. E questo, naturalmente, è un sentimento appagante ,gratificante e soddisfacente ma fino a quando siamo in grado di tenere l'ego sotto controllo.
E 'vero che nessuno di noi può presentarsi come Autorità. Alla fine, credo che questo blogger ha comunque colto un argomento valido. Possiamo essere solo l'autorità di noi stessi e di ciò che la vita di Michael, l'arte, e il combattere per lui, significano per noi. Ma per la stessa ragione, penso anche che il tutto sarebbe terribilmente impoverito, se improvvisamente gettassimo la spugna e cessassimo di porci domande difficili riguardo la vita di Michael e che cosa abbia significato, chi era, e cosa gli è successo. Dopo tutto, è stato in gran parte attraverso il duro lavoro e la dedizione dei blogger che, finalmente, molte delle idee sbagliate e in giro da parecchio tempo su Michael vengono decostruite. I Social media e Internet si sono mangiati via lo strapotere dei tabloid e media tradizionali . La ricerca dei blogger su MJ ha fornito un prezioso patrimonio di conoscenze. Non penso sia una cattiva cosa, e francamente non so come mi faccia sentire quando qualcuno ci associa nella stessa categoria dei tabloid che dovrebbero essere "bruciati", e anche se con quel "noi" parto dal presupposto che abbia voluto comprendere anche se stessa. Nella sua tesi e in sostanza, pare che non siamo altro che l'altra faccia della medaglia dei tabloid. Beh, come qualcuno che è stato, di volta in volta, frustrato e illuminato, tradito e sostenuto, dalla MJ blogosfera, a volte indignato da alcuni degli atteggiamenti promossi, posso certamente vedere entrambi i lati della stessa facciata. Tuttavia, credo possa essere un pendio molto scosceso il chiedersi o domandare chi ha veramente il potere di scrivere su Michael Jackson.
La storia e l'eredità di Michael, possono essere affidate alla musica e alle parole che ha scritto. Tuttavia, questo non deve impedire a chiunque voglia salire sulla nave , di far parte degli studiosi e appassionati , critici musicali e analisti culturali, nemici e giornalisti dei tabloid, biografi e anche psicoanalisti. Ho sentito spesso dire che il blogger, infatti, può essere l'ultimo e unico vero bastione della verità e che il suo compito è stare la fuori alla ricerca della verità su MJ. Con una tale miriade di opinioni, potrebbe non essere possibile raggiungere alcuna reale "verità". Quando tutto è stato detto e fatto, la maggior parte dei fan scelgono e decidono di assorbire la narrativa che più gli conviene. Forse Michael potrebbe anche pensare, "se questa è la versione di me che li rende felici, così sia". Come è stato spesso detto, ciò che conta di più, e che dovrebbe essere una nostra priorità assoluta, è cancellare il suo nome dalle accuse. La sua eredità potrà più che sopravvivere a tutto il resto. E potremo anche continuare ad essere in disaccordo sul fatto che sia stato o meno un vegetariano convinto, se preferiva il vino bianco al rosso, o quanti interventi chirurgici abbia realmente fatto, tutte queste cose, alla fine, sono solo aria fritta , con nessunissima importanza .
Allora, chi ha l'autorità di scrivere su Michael Jackson? La risposta potrebbe essere ognuno di noi, e nessuno di noi. Se avete una passione per lui; se la sua musica e la sua vita vi hanno toccato e influenzato in qualche modo, avete l'autorità per scrivere su di lui. Se avete letto e studiato abbastanza per sentire di avere voce in capitolo su di lui, allora avete l'autorità per scrivere su di lui. Se pensate che ci sono ancora dubbi sulla sua morte che devono essere risolti, o anche domande sulla sua vita che ancora devono essere risolte, allora avete l'autorità per scrivere su di lui. Questo fa di voi una autorità assoluta? Certo che no. Dovete tenere sempre a mente che si tratta solo di una voce, la vostra , una fra migliaia e forse milioni che stanno contribuendo al tessuto di quella "verità",e forse una "verità" che non sarà mai definitiva, ma che, nel corso del tempo, sarà certamente molto più più precisa e sfaccettata di quanto non sarebbe se rimanessimo tutti in silenzio, semplicemente permettendo ai tabloid e ai media di raccontare la solita fasulla storia. Con il tempo, la storia di Michael sarà un lavoro scolpito e modellato a più mani, da parte dei fan, dai remoti villaggi africani agli studenti universitari di Harvard.
Noi blogger abbiamo una responsabilità. Con ogni parola su Michael Jackson che gettiamo nel cyberspazio, stiamo formulando e plasmando la percezione di qualcuno su di lui, in meglio o in peggio. Questa non è una responsabilità da prendere alla leggera, e non può essere finalizzata ad alimentare i nostri ego o qualunque senso del "potere" possa dare. Dobbiamo ricordare che quando si tratta di quel vasto oceano cosmico di voci che si levano alla ricerca della verità su questo uomo, ciascuno di noi, singolarmente, è come una piccola goccia in quell'oceano. Cerchiamo di non gonfiare troppo il nostro valore. Ma per la stessa ragione, cerchiamo di non svenderci neanche. Dopo tutto, è necessaria ogni singola goccia.. per creare l'oceano.

c'è da riflettere .. a prescindere del tempo ( poco - tanto - sporadicamente ) che dedichiamo a Michael .. lo stiamo facendo nel modo giusto? spero tanto di si..... -

Secondo me si, certo si potrebbe fare molto di più.
Ha ragione quando dice che a forza di andare avanti e specialmente in questi ultimi 5 anni, gli articoli scritti dai blogger i ricercatori ect, stanno facendo molto da contraltare a quanto raccontato dalla stampa.
Basta fare qualche ricerca su google o bing o altri motori per accorgersene.. il ciarpame della stampa è ancora tanto, ma nel bel mezzo salta sempre fuori anche le controvoci..
Certo, siamo nel web, fuori dal web non abbiamo ancora alcun modo di contrastare.. ma continuiamo a farlo qui sul web,ed anche su eventi al di fuori, documentari televisivi, articoli su carta stampata( che ormai sono anche tutti ricopiati poi nel web)..
Il fatto che molti si siano presi il distrurbo di tradurre in varie lingue poi aiuta ulteriormente questo fenomeno per la comprensione di massa..
Per cui e per ogni paese esiste la versione 2 3 4 5.. etc etc.. della versione trash, invece raccontata da loro.. i Media.
E nello scavare, anche nel passato..quando invece lo strapotere era assolutamente loro, sono daccordo quando sostiene che stiamo creando degli archivi importantissimi, capaci, forse un giorno.. di rovesciarla questa storia, di far palesare solo la verità.
( e del resto, non è forse quello che stiamo facendo o tentiamo di fare anche qui?)
Certo.. si dice anche che Michael abbia 5 miliardi di fans nel mondo.. e purtroppo di quei 5 miliardi.. ad essere attivamente impegnati( ad oggi eh) in questo saranno qualche centinaio? migliaio?.. qualche altro centinaio traduce nelle lingue correnti del proprio paese..e qualche altro centinaio, riporta nelle proprie pagine, in altri gruppi, in altri forum, FB, twitter google+, altri wordpress.. etc etc..
Gruppi attivi organizzano proteste di massa.. massa, si fa per dire... un associazione, che spero presto ottenga il seguito meritato, sta cercando di ribaltare la legge relativamente la possibilità attuale di diffamare senza ritegno in vita e nella morte..
Insomma.. se pur piccola, ( o ritornata ad essere miseramente piccola) o ancora forse troppo piccola rispetto allo strapotere dei media, una voce che contrasta a più mani c'è.
Sarebbe terribile se e molto prima di essere riusciti a cancellare il nome di Michael dalle queste accuse infamanti per abuso su minori,( e anche in questo sono daccordo, che sia cioè quanto di più importante), tornassimo ad essere quelli che eravamo prima, prima del web e prima della sua scomparsa..
Tornassimo nel silenzio.. lasciando così alla storia quel racconto bieco e falso e tendenzioso e inventato.. che tutt'ora i media continuano a propinare..
