Nelson Mandela: 'Michael Jackson era parte della nostra famiglia'

Mandela ha reso omaggio a Michael Jackson, descrivendo la star come "un membro stretto della nostra famiglia".
L'ex presidente sudafricano ha inoltre reso omaggio al modo in cui Jackson era riuscito a "trionfare sulla tragedia in alcune diverse occasioni nella sua vita".
Le parole di Mandela su Jackson sono state lette al funerale pubblico della star a Los Angeles da Smokey Robinson.

" Cara famiglia Jackson,
E' con grande tristezza che abbiamo appreso della morte prematura di Michael Jackson. Michael si avvicinò a noi dopo aver iniziato a fare visita ed esibirsi in Sud Africa regolarmente.
Ci siamo affezionati a lui e divenne un membro stretto della nostra famiglia. Abbiamo avuto una grande ammirazione per il suo talento e il fatto che fosse in grado di trionfare sulla tragedia in molte occasioni della sua vita.
Michael era un gigante e una leggenda nel settore della musica e piangiamo con i milioni di fan in tutto il mondo. Piangiamo anche con la sua famiglia e i suoi amici per la perdita di un caro amico. Sentiremo la sua mancanza e i preziosi ricordi di lui per molto tempo.

Nelson Mandela: 'Michael Jackson Was Part Of Our Family'

Mandela has paid tribute to Michael Jackson, describing the star as “a close member of our family”.
The former South African president also paid tribute to how Jackson had managed to “triumph over tragedy on some many occasions in his life”.
Mandela’s comments about Jackson were read out at the star’s public memorial service in Los Angeles by Smokey Robinson.

“Dear Jackson family,
It is with great sadness that we learnt of the untimely death of Michael Jackson. Michael became close to us after he started visiting and performing in South Africa regularly.
We became fond of him and he became a close member of our family. We had great admiration for his talent and that he was able to triumph over tragedy on some many occasions in his life.
Michael was a giant and a legend in the music industry and we mourn with the millions of fans worldwide. We also mourn with his family and his friends over the loss of a dear friend. He will be missed and memories cherished of him for a long time.
